The WFA is pleased to announce that it is creating the "WFA REC™",
a new integrated recreational/physical education program for families with
children with autism and/or related developmental delays.
WFA REC™ is being uniquely desinged to include not only our children
with special needs, but also their siblings and parents, in a fun filled program
for the whole family. The program will focus on improving our children's
motor skills and movements, body strength and flexibility, overall coordination
and balance, sensory processing skills, as well as play and social skils. WFA
REC™ is planning a schedule filled with various sports, games and other
activities such as soccer, marital arts, t-ball, and other games with instruction
and supervision by professionals such as certified adaptive physical educators,
as well as occupational and physical therapists. WFA REC™ will
require parental participation and typical siblings will be encouraged to participate
as peer leaders in the integrated play activites. Space in the program
will be limited. If you are interested, please contact the WFA by email,
fax or mail (see bottom). Doing so will not obligate you or your family
to participate, but will reserve your spot should you decide to register when
additional information, including fees and start dated become available. Your
prompt response is being requested to help enable us to obtain adequate staff
and equipment for the program. Also, should you have an interest in volunteering
any time or resources, such as equipment or supplies to support this project,
please contact us!
